The National University of Singapore hosted a Workshop on Approaches to Wh-Intervention<\/em><\/strong>, June 5\u20137, 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This workshop centers around a discussion of so-called \u201cintervention effects\u201d in wh<\/em>-questions<\/strong> (Beck 1996, 2006, and many others), where certain quantificational elements are banned from preceding or scoping over an in-situ wh<\/em>-word. Theories of this sort of effect differ considerably in exactly what the effect is attributed to, and how the phenomenon is related to other intervention configurations.<\/p>\n

The workshop will bring together researchers active in this domain, aiming to define and delimit the domains of such phenomena, and to foster the cross-pollination of ideas between leading scholars of the topic. We are pleased to welcome the following invited speakers for six plenary talks<\/strong> which will present various perspectives on the problem:<\/p>\n
